How to Enroll in Medicare?
How to Enroll in Medicare?
There are 3 easy ways one can enroll in Medicare when turning 65.
1. Visit your local Social Security Office 3 months prior to your birthday month and let them know that you need to sign up for Medicare, Part A (hospital coverage) and Part B (outpatient coverage – doctor’s visits, lab work, X-rays, etc.)
2. Go online at www.medicare.gov and sign up for Medicare, 3 months prior to your birthday month. This process will take 10-20 minutes to sign up.
3. You will automatically be enrolled into Medicare, 3 months prior to your birthday month if you are already receiving Social Security Benefits. You will receive your Medicare card in the mail and you don’t have to visit your local Social Security Office or go online to sign up. In the case that you will not receive your Medicare card in the mail 3 months before you turn 65, then you will need to contact your local Social Security Office or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
